Call for papers - Rivista "Testi e Linguaggi" (17, 2023)
Focusing on the topic of language variation in the context of global movements and language contact, we invite to explore the role of language in spatial and social mobility across geographical and cultural borders, to discuss the role of language in the contemporary world, where spatial and language barriers are becoming increasingly permeable. Although the topic is currently a much debated one, we think that a variationist perspective is particularly suitable to see how new linguistic practices challenge existing norms and categories of belonging.
We invite the submission of papers on original and unpublished studies including, but not limited to the following topics:
• language contact issues in migration contexts and their impact on language change and on local languages
• language, identity, belonging and otherness
• language and mobility
• translation and translanguaging in migration and diasporic contexts
• language variation and change in migration and diasporic contexts
• all aspects of language variation and change in new Varieties of languages in migration contexts
• synchronic/diachronic analyses/perspectives in the domain of language variation and change and migration.
